.com or full name in url

I was wondering what would get better search engine results.

For example, a domain ending in a .com or a full worded domain.

    mydomain.com OR mydoma.in

delicious.com and del.icio.us is another example.

Keywords in domain names is of limited value SEOwise, and people may find it easier to remember full name versions, but probably not a lot more than a .com

Success is about marketing, not product.

The .com will probably get better results. It depends on your ending. For a local site it is better to have a local domain ending. In the end the best thing is to get both domains.

We are sure full worded are better. After all website content matters for the search engine to index you.

    Good luck.

A .com is a better investment than a domain hack (that is the domain term for what you are calling a "full name"). Marketing results will prove that the .com would help you more, as it's the most popular domain extension as people just naturally tack that on the end of what they remember. Still, get both if you can, then decide which one to use and forward the other domains traffic to the site.

Try to attain/use both costs permitting. But focus your marketing efforts on the .com version, as the majority will go there. Yet, some may remember the shortened one.

Obviously .com domain is the best instead of full name as you mentioned.

linkin99, I would say it entirely depends on the kind of domain you are getting, in terms of domain "hacks" as you call them though I probably would think slicing would be a better term as hacks makes it sound like theres some cheating or underhanded association with its use, if you could get a single word domain (or short two word) which results in a less confusing domain then it may be preferential for example "doma.in" instead of visitmydomain.com (as single word sites like domain.com will almost certainly be non available).

Getting a keyword in your url can be a good benefit, but TLD also matters

It is always good to get both keyword and .com in your url.
if you find it hard, i must advise you to go for .com and build backlinks with your keyword for SEO.

    Smile

full word is better if its of medium length and meaningful. dotcom is better if you want to go for 5 letter or 6 lettered word.
