They don't have a reseller program like Hostgator has.
I have looked at what is out there, and here's what I see:
    Code:
                          Price/mo DiskSpace Bandwidth
hostgator baby $ 7.95 unlimited unlimited
    hostgator reseller 24.95 24gb 250gb
    godaddy deluxe 6.99 150gb 1500gb
I don't have the pricing from the planet (the company who is renting their servers to hostgator and zillions of others). They AFAIK only sell dedicated plans and they seem to be a dominant player in the game.

As I see it unless someone wants to get a managed dedicated server from the Planet, or if they can create significant added value they are going to get killed by the prices offered by the competition.
If you are a reseller for hostgator, they are killing you, because they are offering a package to compete with you that you can't touch.

I don't mean to badmouth hostgator, in fact I am likely to shift one of my hosting accounts to them, but not the reseller deal. But my investigation has shown that you cannot get started in reselling hosting without a major commitment.

Perhaps somebody else will jump in here, show me to be wrong, and we'll both be on our way into the reseller world

The other alternative is to make what could be a nice piece of change as an affiliate of one of the big guys in the hosting business.

What are you planning to use your accounts for?
If you are interested in reselling you need pay a lot of attention on the support issues. What support will you deliver to your end users.

    Hello,

If you make correct choice of your company I don't feel you will have any problem with end user support.

There are companies out there who will provide end user support as well.

There are, but you need to be extra careful - as at the end of the day, they are going to be the people your customer deals with most and if they do a bad job if reflects badly on you and you loose the hosting and most likely any other work you were doing for the customer - so it could be very costly. The same as if you do the support yourself and it's not up to scratch because you don't have time to get in to the nitty-gritty of hosting.

Also, there's a lot of people claiming 24x7 support but don't have the staff to support that (You need a minimum of 4 ideally) - or they claim to have the staff, but when you look, they don't have the resources i.e. Money to have 4 staff working for them, what they really mean is you can submit a ticket 24x7 or leave a phone message 24x7. A good giveaway in the UK is where people claim to have 4+ staff members working for them but aren't VAT registered (£67k turnover per year is the registration threshold). 4 staff inside of £67k per year means at most £16,750 p/a per member of staff - but that doesn't take account of any other running costs for the business - Offices, utilities, PAYE obligations, servers, software licensing etc. That isn't to say though that because they are VAT registered it's any different - they still may not have the staff as they may be turning over less than £67k per year (you can register under the limit if you wish).

    Thanks,

The UK also lists VAT registered companies so it's mandatory for the user to check that list to verify for him/herself. Similar systems may exist in other countries as well (as they do in NZ).

No reselling company provides support to your customers for free... IE you can't pay a flat-rate of $25-100/month and then resell server space and expect them to support your customers. Why would they hire extra staff to take care of your accounts? They might as well sell those accounts out directly.
http://www.resellerspanel.com/ let's you resell their packages (their base package is $3.33 and you can resell it at whatever price as a private label and they will support your customers) but if you want to pay x amount per month no matter how many clients you have you will have to support your customers or give up your private label (by referring them to your host companies support staff - which can be risky).

So my question becomes: which is the most stable and reliable with the easiest to use client panel and integrated payment systems for under $50 (I'll move to a dedicated server or a VPS in the future as it grows).

I'm looking at site5.com for reselling... anyone have any experience?

Oh, and site5.com uses the planet (that's why I'm looking at them -- plus they're very transparent from what I can tell)

Innohosting does, just to give an example. When space and data transfer are limited, the number of accounts you can fit within that space will necessarily be limited as well.

I like Cartika private label reseller services. Clustered services, exchange, coldfusion, reseller dedicated, resell shares linux windows freebsd, r1 cdp backups, high availability load balanced hosting etc. They can provide end user support also.

Also, I like Eirca - less features, but with free end user support.
