A ufo sighting script based on postcode / addresses

    Ok,

Let say I want to make a ufo site whereby users can register and post sightings based on postcodes / street names. once a sighting has been posted other users can post a thumbs up or thumbs down to determine its authenticity.

The site would have the option to search nearby sightings.

Does such a script already exist?

I have basic php / mysql knowledge and think I could tweak a script.

There is nothing that I am aware of that would achieve this, though you could probably use API hooks in Google maps so that whenever someone spots a UFO they could click the location and add the sighting (therefore people could confirm or deny the item based on its location) and it would not require people handing out their personal details to achieve this effect. It would sort of work alike to geo-tagging, people could add comments to each particular pinpoint and you might be able to color the sightings based on if it is unidentified or identified (as something else like an aircraft).

Try to find a doctor or business rating script. Anything that is zip code based.

If you want to move away from zip code based you can set up a Digg style site that has a category for each geographic area. Drigg and Pligg are two scripts that can do this.

    hi,

I tried out pligg but it seems it only allows you to post url links to external news stories and then comment on those, rather than submit your own content seperately.

does anybody have any other ideas

when a user submits content i am seeking a number of specialist options

    for example

lets say a user spots a ufo in bridge street, hemel hempstead.

another user posts the same sighting 2 weeks later and the system gives the option to amalgamate the 2 stories into one sighting. all sightings on bridge street hemel hempstead are displayed on one page.

another important feature for me is location, date and image upload.

the doctor ratings script seems more relevant however i was unable to find a doctor ratings script out there so any recommendations would be greatly appreciated. i don't mind paying either.

another feature i require is the ability for a user to search for sightings in their town.
