BMI = Weight in KG / Height (in meters)²
My BMI Result:
Weight: 75 kg
Height: 1.7 meters
My BMI = 74/1.7*1.7 = 26 (overweight)
BMI Result:
• under 18.5 indicates underweight
• 18.5 - 24.9 indicates normal
• 25.0 - 29.9 indicates overweight
• over 30 indicates obesity
• over 40 indicates extreme obesity

Calculator
6 feet
160 (450gr per pound)
BMI 21.7
Be physically active, do not eat junk, do not eat huge portions, do not drink sugary drinks and no more than one glass of alcoholic beverage a day. If you feel the weight creep up, put the brakes on. Eat at least 5 times a day to have that metabolism humming along and keep that blood sugar level even.

With a BMI of 25.5 I guess I qualify as overweight, but not by very much.
BMI is a blunt instrument anyway, since it doesn't consider muscle mass vs body fat etc.
The only reliable way to lose weight? Expend more energy than you consume, just like Ulrike said. Eat healthy and be active.
I've been exercising regularly for 2½ years now (I'm almost 43). Although the net weight loss isn't more than 5-6 kg, I'm in far better shape. I've probably lost 10-12 kg of fat, and gained 5-6 kg of muscle mass.Birnam wood is come to Dunsinane

BMI = Weight in KG / Height (in meters)²
My BMI Result:
Weight: 53 kg
Height: 1.75 meters
Computation: 53/3.06 = 17.32 (underweight) :unsurpised:

Though BMI is the only widely accepted measurement of your weight status it is also considered to be widely unreliable and flawed. Body mass index does not take into account your muscle to fat ratio and as muscle is more dense and heavy then fat, you could be built like a rhino and be considered overweight but be under the lean category. Not only this but your waist size is widely considered as important as BMI as that is generally the sign to which your risk of heart problems and diseases are increased. A waist size (if I remember correctly) of 38 inches for women and 40 for men indicate a high increased risk of getting severe weight related health problems.

That also is a very vague measurement. A person 5 feet tall or 6 feet tall has a very different circumference. Really to pinch that area or just plain looking at it would tell the story.
All these kinds of formulas are only meant as a general guideline. Use common sense to see if it fits you. You know well enough if you are in the normal range or not

I don't need any formula to tell me that I am overweight... I don't even need to look myself in the mirror! I know it. I don't eat too much, and I don't eat junk food. I am simply lazy with exercise (I walk 20 every day but that's about it). Everyday I tell myself that I should do something but I am very happy with my body and I feel completely comfortable with it. Still, I know I should do something. It is just a health issue, really. One of these days...

85 kg, 180 m tall
BMI=26.23
light overweight
But this is a very random measure. For instance, i'm not fat (actually i cant be easily thiner) and i have a BMI > 25.

Technically I'm overweight, but like my posters before me say, I'm quite muscular (I go to the gym a lot).

No matter what I eat, no matter how much I eat, no matter how long I neglect exercising, my body simply doesn't know what excess fat is.

Not sure what I am, I used to be underweight, but I stopped exercising and become less active and have gained about 40lbs in the last 3 years.

Mine is 20.
I wish I was heavier but no matter how much I try (and I've tried) I can't seem to gain weight. No complaints though, women seem to like my hip-bones.

I'm now at 24.9, so I guess I'm not overweight any more.
