How can I calculate bandwidth consumption?

Say I am laumching a video hosting web site and my provider provides 1000GB of bandwidth per month. How many 1 minute videos viewed will use up the 1000GB of bandwidth each month?

It's hard really to do any projections without media format information...

Depends on the media format and popularity of the site. Initially it'll probably be enough, but if you decide to continue with it, you will definately need to increase it. If the server does media conversions, you'll certainly need additional servers for the processing power.

The format of video will decide the bandwidth, we cannot predict on the basis of time. If the video is compressed then it will use less bandwidth for 1 min in comparison to uncompressed. Also the size (resolution) of video matters.

If your videos are in flash format, you don't have to worry about bandwidth cause they are smaller files.

For other formats, it is hard to say once you get heavy traffic
