For me it was a game magazine called EGM.

In their April issue, they posted about wackiest accessories for game console. One was about a short pants that vibrates on explosion.... I was so played on this.. I actually googled for it..lol

i remember one from my childhood, it seemed funny at the time but my parents didn't think so...

sugar in the salt shaker and salt in the sugar bowl

made for an interesting breakfast...

Ore and to answer the question... the most sadistic April Fools' joke a friend ever pulled was she once spent the day convincing everyone that she was pregnant. F*cked up ?... Most definitely.

But I don't know anyone who'll be topping that one anytime soon.

Needless to say she had a whole swarm of people mad at her for quite awhile after that incident.

Years ago, here in the UK, there used to be a TV program called That's Life. Every year they would have a quite elaborate feature around April Fool's day.

A couple of examples ...

A tree in Italy that grew spaghetti.

A strange zoo animal called a Lirpa Loof. (Actually a person in a costume. Read the name backwards.

)

there is always taking the sticky part from a post-it note and putting over the optical sensor of someone's mouse

would work great if you were an IT person and had the day off
everone in the building can't use their computers and the IT guy is off

yes i am in spain, but due to family heritage everyone celebrates april fools.
i am a very easy april fools victim, and i have been one every year, and i still haven't played any good (as in, any) prank on anyone.

vanilla pranks are my favorite.

Now I remember a good one. An e-mail from a friend with an attachment. In the e-mail, she said that I would have a great laugh if I clicked on the attachment. It was an .exe file, but there was no problem because she made sure that it didn't have any viruses.

So I did, and it opened a comand window and started to delete all my folders! I couldn't stop it no matter what keys I pressed! Then, everything was gone and I was left with a black screen...

I was shocked... when I finally recovered and I re-booted the computer... my folders and all my data was on the computer! It was a joke...

She sent it to the whole office... you wouldn't believe the amounts of calls the IT department got that day! some people even unplugged their computers to stop the program deleting their folders! It was hilarious

I'm not one for April Fools, personally.

However, I'm imaginitive so here are a few ideas I've come up with if you guys want to try it out:

Have a co-worker who writes with a fountain pen? Cover the remainder of their note-paper with ink-eraser. Any time they try and write over the following hours/days, the writing will just disappear!
Fill the water-dispenser full of salt.
Know someone who drinks from a black cup? Put an edible, waterproof (but removable) dye around the rim of their cup
Get in earlier than a co-worker? Cover their officle/desk in a chosen material - clingfilm, foil, bubble wrap or even condoms! You could even go all in and fill their office full of polystyrene
If you have people below you in the office hierarchy, make it clear that you will not tolerate any april fools. Then, carry out as many as you can and, for the REAL victims, frame them for doing it.
Unplug all of the computers and their peripherals.
Fill the kettle with orange juice.
Style up co-worker's machines to look OLD. You could give it the win '95 look - or even boot their computers in DOS.
Temporarily change the wifi password.
