FTP How to upload with it for a dummy.

    Hi Guys and Girls,
I need to learn this, I am fed up paying guys on DP to do it.
When my wife was sick I had to feed my son, I got a cook book and on the first chapter it told the reader how to know if the oven was on and how to do it, ie make sure the oven is plugged in. I need basic info like this.
I am starting a blog, downloaded a template I liked and download an ftp script.

In the boxs you have to fill in the following.

Description: ( I just put the name red template)
FTP Server. I put my IP number
User name. Is this for my hosting or for my admin to WP
Password. Is this for my hosting or for my admin to wp.
    Directory. (WP says) wp-content/themes directory.

I tried every option I could think of, but still its not uploading.

Please help a dummy to do this.
    Thanks

First of all, if you're uploading from your PC to your website, you might want to use a FTP program like Filezilla. You'll still have to insert the ftp server, username and password, but once you make the connection to the ftp server, things get much easier. It's almost like copying from one windows folder to another
And if you already have WP installed, and want to install a new template, you can do that through the WP admin panel.

You need to put the ftp server url here, your host should have given it to you.
    Something like: ftp.sitename.com
User name. Is this for my hosting or for my admin to WP
The username to acces the FTP server. Hosting.
Password. Is this for my hosting or for my admin to wp.
The password to access the FTP server. Hosting
    Directory. (WP says) wp-content/themes directory.
I guess you can leave that. Depends on how this FTP script works
