    Need a cheap reliable VPS

I usually host my sites on godaddy but they are a bit expensive. A friend of mine who wants to host a very small site of his not expecting too many viewers, needs a web host which is cheap, reliable and fast..

Please suggest some tested options. Which one of the cheaper options are time tested and reliable ?

Any help would be very much appreciated.

If it's not requiring much, why not host in a shared account? It will be cheaper than a VPS

Correct if your not hosting that much a cPanel/shared account would be best for you. ITs much cheaper and more reliable then godaddy.

Whats your budget ? as VPS would cost you more than shared account ..Like everyone is advising shared plan is better for small site.

    cheap, reliable and fast
It seems a bit difficult to get this combination. If you are concerned about reliability you should pay a reasonable budget. And as others suggested from your requirements it seems shared hosting will be enough for your site.

I guess it can be relative when we say the word "cheap". Maybe $40/month is cheap to you? If that is the case there are several great VPS offerings at that level. I have had great service from Servint.

It's worth noting that they're unmanaged though. Good managed VPSes of decent size tend to start around $40, as dvduval noted above.

I need this from a VPS

I want ALL of the following:

    -about $20 (US) month
    -24 hour live chat help
-very low specs (ie basic memory etc.)
-no limit on number of emails sent
-I dont want to have to install anything. Just sign up and start uploading PHP pages. I dont want to have to update PHP everytime there is a new release also. (however just PHP is enough - I dont need loads of extra software - just the usual)

    Any ideas?

It will be very hard to find a vps at that price, you might be better off getting a reseller plan, this way everything you need on the server is already setup. This is just an idea.

I know for $20/month you wont find a Managed VPS meaning you are going to have to install everything along with manage uptime.

Erm - what's the point of getting a VPS if you're not going to be installing things manually? Why not just a premium plan on a shared host such as cookiehost.com.

On the webhostintalk users have amazing possibility to leave a quote and get direct offres from the web hosting providers. I think that you can use that as well

    Hi,

For $20 a month I think your expectations are unreasonable and if you do find anyone offering a managed VPS for $20/month you're going to be saddly disappointed with them. Staff cost money and $20 doesn't pay for a lot of staff time (Possibly an hour, but maybe only half an hour) and that's without the cost of hardware, software, power, facility space and the 100s of other overheads of running a business that can actually support its' customers.

You're going to either need to up your budget, or be prepared to learn how to manage it all yourself - not a small task if you want the job doing properly.

    Thanks,

If the domains you host are not much of mysql , and other software intensive, and if you do not need to install any further modules, I think you should go in for cheaper plans like reseller hosting.

There are really great VPS offers given at {snip} - the company is now offering a discount of ten per cents for the first month. The coupon code is easy to find on the site. I believe you can have a good experience with them.

Also pay attention to {snip} - this is java oriented provider, though having good options for php as well. Their Vps deals are one of the lowest by cost i know.

You can pickup a reliable VPS for even 10$ if you look in the right direction. Anything below that, and you are treading into the waters of a unreliable VPS

You can try lunarpage VPS, they charge $39.95/month. If you only wanna a dedicated IP address, then Hostgater might be a good choice because their business plan only cost you 12.95/month.
