Let people subscribe to my mailing list ? How ?

    Hi guys,

I would like to create a website with many content.. articles, story and etc.. thats the easy part.

The additional feature is to allow my users (Registered members) to subscribe to their favorite topics. For example, If today, I uploaded a good article about Cars, it will automatically send an email about that car article to all users (registered members) who loves to read about cars.

Can somebody please help gives some advice, on how to go about this ?
or could you please recommend me some good scripts or programs out there which helps solve this ?

    Thanks
    AK

    thanks for the response guys.

Well, I have about 2 years of experience playing around with php, mysql and servers stuff.. I can use PHP to create form, send the form info to emails, store the data in mysql server, delete data and etc....

yeah... the simple way out is to hire.. but I would also love to learn it myself..

and thanks priyakochin for the link. will check it out now

If you have 2 years of experience with PHP and MySQL and other web development and deployment stuffs, then you must be able to to do it yourself without any help.

    - Just categories the articles first like Cars, Musics, etc. first.
    - Let the user to select/check the favorite categories to be subscribed in the registration form or somewhere after registration/login.
    - Create a separate table in your database to store member's id and category ids and the save the checked categories in that table.
    Code:
    member_id	category_id
    1 2
    1 7
(lets say category_id 2 is the id of category Cars and 7 is Musics)
    - Finally when an article is added/created with that categories then send the email to those members who are interested in.

    Isn't this pretty simple?

    Good Luck!
Mistakes are proof that you are trying.....
