Won't import tables for database in myphpadmin

I'm just learning PHP and am working on getting an existing site up and running. It was built a few years ago and is in Spanish. I've uploaded the site to the server and am trying to import the tables into the database. I've created the database but when I try to import the info I get an access denied message saying that my database is not authorized to access the file. I've set the config files and everything seems to be working. If I change any of those variables I get an error message on the home page. I've also tried to cut and paste the info into the sql query sreen but it doesn't work. It appears to be a dump file but I'm obviously missing something?

    Please help.

The question is not much clear, anyway, you can use the phpmyadmin and backup the database as sql file.you only need to import that file to your server's phpmyadmin.

I think the error is due to the incorrect confirg. Its different in localhost and server
