Username or Email addresses

I have noticed it is becoming more and more common for websites to use your email address in place of the more traditional username.

Using an email address has so many advantages. No need to store a separate username, very easy to reset lost password, no forgetting login name etc.

I do this on all my websites now, but I just wondered what people thought of it. Any disadvantages?

i agree sort of.

the disadvantages are - of course - the user may not want their email address listed (if there's some sort of posting functionality) you may way to have a field for handle that would be displayed if they post something.
