Cheapest web host for very small site?

I just want to make a little information site with about 5 pages, nothing fancy, there will just be a very small amount of traffic. What is the cheapest reliable web hosting company or package out there? I am in the U.S. if that matters.
    Thanks

    Hello,

What type of hosting you are looking for - Windows or Linux? You could try searching in Google or Sitepoint Marketplace also. Yes, your location matters, and if you will have US traffic the hosting company will be good to be US based.

    Hello!
As far as I understand you are not interested in the free web hosting (but it seems that is the best way to go). In any case you can do some research in the webhosting deals. Chose the one and do some research for the reviews.

    Hi,

Some hosting companies I know or used is only about USD7.00 a year. They have been in hosting business for almost 10 years. No any complaint up to now.

At such low price, there is really no need to look for free host.

    Best regards

Pretty useful marblehost.com can be. They can help you to save few bucks on domain names, offering them for free, and they are offering sitebulders able to create sites like you desribed... Take a look, maybe they could suit you needs.

Any basic package will do it for you. As I can see a 'reliable' word in your post, I think you want your site to be up always and I don't know whether free hosting can do that for you. That depends on how much important your site is for you. If it is some kind of hobby site free hosting will do it for you.
    What is the cheapest
What is your budget in mind?. Cheap has different values for different people.
Best way is to check the offer sections in various forums and find a host that meets your requirements. Then research on the reviews about them. Best of luck.

I read this thread a couple of times, and now it struck me. Nearlyfreespeech.net's pricing model might result in a very low cost for a small site like that, assuming that the data transfer consumption is low as well. You must do your own proper research on them though, as I haven't used them myself.

also, there are many free hosting providers you can use. Free hosting is best for personal Web pages and very small business Web pages.

We will suggest not to join 'free hosting' at any cost if you want good trraffic of your own. If you can spell the type of your website we can suggest 'reliable' host.

    Best of luck.

Mate I think you should also tell us your budget as well. So that accordingly we can help you. Are you using first time hosting plan ... do you have plan to expand number of your website. If you have such plan that I think you should go for those hosting companies which offer unlimited domain hosting.

May be this one will add extra few bucks but this one will be good for you and no worry as well.

I'd go with {snip}, this company has provided free hosting with no ad banners, a free website creator, and many free web tools are available from them which you may use in case of necessity.

I wouldn't recommend a free host, but there are plenty of very cheap sites that you can get your start on, and since you're just starting out it won't be too hard to move it around once you get established. Any of the 10 dozen well-known cheap hosts should work to get you going.

I support the idea of free web hosting, unless your web site content is extra vital for you

Sometimes cheapest doesn't always mean good.
You need to find a reliable host.
That's why I always use HostGator.

Cheap and reliable can go together if you are reasonable about it. When I am speaking of cheap, I think of $5.00/per month. Any less then that, and reliability and cheap defiantly do not belong in the same post.

I disagree in this market we are low to compeat. We have full time staff (not paid hourly but by ticket but what ever works) you get what you pay for as far as support the more you pay the more staff they can afford to have on stafff (this is a general knowlege however it may differ for different hosts)

You may want to check out Microsoft's Office Live service. It free and but as a tiny add in the corner. You may want to contact some hosts to see if they can give you a custom plan.

I wouldn't go for the cheapest or free. They could disappear overnight. If that doesn't matter to you, then if it suits your needs -- why not?
