    I'm new to online advertising

    Hi all,

I've just had a stats package run on my server and it delivered some nice results.

    I get:

Approx 10 million page views a month.
Approx 75,000 unique users a month.

So now I want advertising. What steps should I take to make the most money from my stats.

    Regards,

    veedee

Start putting some ads that match your content from some of this affliates that im gonna tell you below:

FineClicks - problably one of the best companies out there about CPC and CPA offers. Try this one! pretty good!

Supertaf - Excellent to tell your friends about your pages. Increases traffic a lot.

Advertising.com's Newsletter - the best newsletter network out there that help you make money from your mailing list or newsletter. You place ads (CPC/CPM/CPA) ranging up to 20 cents per click for CPC and $20 for CPA.* If you run a mailing list or newsletter, this is for you!

For CPA, AffiliateFuel is much better than Fineclicks.

Advertising.com used to be a good choice for newsletters but many hosts have reported a serious decline in earnings with adv.com. Since they instituted a 72 hour limit on CPC, most clicks are never paid for. I've also never seen any CPM campaigns for the newsletter section.

Was that 10 million hits a month? You know a hit is NOT a page view. One page view can result in 10, 20, or more hits depending on how many images you use.

Can anyone tell me what "doubleclick" would see me as?
I go to their site and haven't got a clue what category I fall under.

    Cheers,
A number of people have asked you to post the URL of your site and you haven't. It's very difficult to tell what category DC would see you as if we can't look at your site.

    Thanks .

To be totally honest, forums are tough. Many ad networks just don't want anything to do with sites that have forums as a major component of the site.

Where you are specialized, DC might go auto or community. One big drawback to DC these days is their high default rate and their $.25 ad serving fee on defaults. Doubleclick also requires top & bottom banners & uncapped pops.

If you are looking at targeted CPA, I have found AffiliateFuel to be the best. You might also want to try Commission Junction for programs related to your site.

You might also try Targetwords textlink program. This is CPC.

Im with Lil'Red on this one..
Forums usually yield a very high page view per visitor and overall gernerally have a very bad ctr.
I'd suggest placing some VERY targetted CPA offers on each page, some text links, and some popups, from either popuptraffic or the exitfuel light popups. If you have 75K uniques a month and they are mostly from the US.. you should be able to cover your costs with some popups. Then anything else you make is gravy
If your site is automotive related.. which from my first glance at your site it appears to be(kick me in the teeth if im wrong), you could try contacting some automotive companies.. ones that offer aftermarket stuff and have web sites, and offer them an advertising package they just can't refuse. If you can get 5-6 comapanies advertising on your site on a regular basis, you will be able to gradually raise your rates since there will be some competition for the placement.
Hope that gives you at least a fraction of an idea
    Thanks
    Ryan

    Hello guys,

Thansk for your replies. I have been offered 16p per click through. Is this a decent rate?

    Cheers,

    Ben

16p ($0.23) per click is very good for targetted banners.

    Other avenues

I think in the end you'll find that banner revenue will be your worst performer. Don't get me wrong, every little bit counts, but you're core revenue should derive from selling a targetted product or service, or similar affiliate programs. Online banner advertising just won't support a site anymore (unless you have your own sales staff which can get you higher rates than third-party agencies).

    Sylvie,

I believe pretending to be a third party promoting your own site is a violation of the rules.

I noticed you've been making the rounds of the forums promoting your site by pretending to be someone who just happened to use it.
