Thread: Ebay question
May 13, 2002, 08:58 #1
Does anyone know where I can find closed auctions on Ebay? I want to check out previous auctions to get an idea on what sells at what prices, where the bidding wars are etc. They recommend doing that before you post your own item but I couldn't find where those are.
BTW - I'm not sure if this is the right forum for this question. Mods, feel free to move my post...

They're there...just do a search, and the link is hidden to the left under one of their menus. It says "Search Completed Items" or something like that.

I found it and tried to look at prices people got in the pas for websites. I can't really figure it out though. How can I tell what the ending price was (I think what they show is only the starting price).
Take a look at this strange bidding history:
It looks like the winner was bidding against himself and raising. I'm not sure that is possible with Ebay bidding mechanism, so I'm thinking maybe he didn't pay 3500 after all?

There are two reasons this could happen:
1. There was a reserve, and he kept bidding in small increments to try and hit the reserve.
2. Someone had bidded higher, and every time he bidded, it said he got outbidded, so he tried again.
