Free template... what would you do?
Alright, so I downloaded a free template that could get me started. I've put up a little something I've done, and added some links to take place of the articles I will put in later.
I know it's not very eyecatching or stick out in any really. So what would you do?
I've thought about making the background a gradient but how would I make it where it doesn't repeat, but streches to fit the screen? Is that even possible?
Well thanks!

I would personally avoid free templates, as they can devalue your website.
Background gradient wise, Add something like this to the css:
background-image:url('URL to IMAGE');
background-repeat:repeat-x;
this will repeat the image (in this case a gradient) on the x-axis.My Blog/Site: Full On Design

Forgive me.
Now how do I make it my background?
When I place it in the CSS it changes the color of my text.
Thx again.

Try WordPress.org Content Management System, much easier than using a template. FredTheSpot.com looks pretty good btw.

Haha well thanks, I will look into that.
Now my current design looks too 1990ish.
Can anyone help me escape this?
