joining two identicle tables as one...

Sorry if this question has already been answered, I've read everything on joins and for some reason I just can't make sense of it. I have two identical tables each with 3 columns. How can I run a single query on both tables as if the two tables were one large table?

You should have read everything about union instead.

select <columns> from a
union all
select <columns> from b
