    Idea for Sitepoint or similar site

    This company http://www.savethis.com had a great idea. When they first popped up on sites like cnn I looked at them and felt they had a pretty good concept. They had the now (pretty) standard web features of email to a friend, most popular article/story etc.., and on their portal you could see what was most popular. I thought it was a great idea to send them traffic while sending some back to their customers and offering something that websites could use.

    I don't know why they closed their portal...probably ate into their core business somehow (e.g. some customer sites probably didn't like them linking to a site that may make their customer go to a rival site)...

    Anyways, they have a cool feature which allows you to bookmark a link they have, and from any page on the net you can email this page to a friend, or save it to your bookmark which they keep on their site...they also have an addressbook...

    I prefer it to the IE system of emailing this url because IE either opens up outlook and downloading messages in a way I don't like, or it opens outlook express, and now that I've switched email clients it doesn't use the new client...so I use savethis.com...

    but they make you use so many clicks (perhaps to show and sell more ads) that it isn't all that convenient.

    I don't know how complicated this would be to replicate, with being able to save let's say the top ten email addresses you send to, perhaps someone wants to offer this on their website. If you have a site for webmasters it may be good for some traffic... I'll be your first client

    Let me know if you like the idea or if it makes sense?

    what does this have to do with javascript, anyway its not that hard to replicate btw.

    just use kevin yanks advanced email tutorial and setup sessions in php. Then just store the users links in a database etc. With a few modifications to kevins tutorial you will have a similar site to theres.

    Oh, sorry...they used javascript. The url in the bookmark/favorite is
    Code:
    javascript:var clickURL=(self.clickURL)?self.clickURL:location.href; var clickTitle=(self.clickTitle)?self.clickTitle:document.title; void(open('http://www.emailthis.clickability.com/et/emailThis?clickMap=createBB&url='+escape(clickURL)+'&title='+escape(clickTitle)+'&random='+Math.random(),'click','height=450,width=510,title=no,location=no,scrollbars=yes,menubars=no,toolbars=no,resizable=yes'))
    Thanks for the answers guyz.

    Well if there IS an applet - which i haven't looked into, and you can't see the object code tag, then it's probably written in by JS.
    I'd guess you could find it by using the JS external file references.
    If it stops you trying to get it from the address bar, you could write a short perl/c++/python to spoof headers and get it.
    From a glance it might be in http://www.qksz.net/1e-2ap0 but i really wouldn't know.

    No - it's not the right one - that's a banner.
    I don't have time to go through looking at all the script srcs though
