Free PHP Encoder/Decoder?

Hi There,

I have been googling this for the past 3 days but I have still not found any FREE PHP Encode/Decoder.

Incase some of you are wondering what I am talking about, take a look into this site , thats what I am looking for but unfortunately its NOT free.

There isn't one. If you have something worth protecting then you will need to spend a little money.

Ioncube is the other reputable encoding software, and is a bit cheaper than Zend's solution.

That is the problem with most new comers to development. Have this unclenched desire to protect there super, amazingly, memorizing, "unique" application that is all reality...is not so grand of an application. I mean no offense really. But you should really evaluate why you want to encode your application. And evaluate if it is really worth it.

I can tell you, most of the time it is not worth it in the slightest! Afraid your client is going to distribute your application? Why would they? Is your application filled with that much awesomeness sauce they would want to share with competitors?

Then there is the "give it to me for free" attitude, you plan on making money on this application you so want to protect cause it is awesome, but you are too cheap to invest in it? The speaks well for the actual application's awesomeness.

Anyways, I mean no offense consider this more of a rant. Oh and do not bother with cheap source encoders, I can break those in my sleep.

Well said. Only a really significant application that you are selling for many hundreds of dollars a copy would really be worth encrypting since anyone capable of doing anything with the unencrypted source of a small application would be capable of writing it themselves anyway. If you can't recover the cost of the encryption software with your first sale then your application probably isn't significant enough to need encrypting.

This question comes up from time to time, and free solutions have been posted, but very quickly someone like logic earth demonstrates how the free solutions (that don't require a server module) can be easily broken. You get what you pay for here, so your choices are to not encode at all, or pay for something like IonCube.

Obfuscation is not quite the same thing as encoding >.>. Honestly, I think if you want your code hidden, use compiled languages and problem solved. I've never had a problem with hiding my source in C++ >.>...

What is Obfuscation mean then?
