I'm sure this question has been asked many times before, so forgive me. I would like to know which is better out of PHP and Coldfusion.

Are there advantages and disadvantages between them, or does one just rule period (hopefully PHP).

BTW, I'm thinking of learning PHP

Do a search on the forums you will find numberous threads about this topic.

But in brief there really isnt any major advantage or disadvantage on using either.

PHP is free, Coldfusion is easier to learn etc.

Another point to consider is that PHP is always included as standard with hosting companies (ones that do PHP that is), where as coldfusion is often listed as an extra, so it can be more expensive to host a site using it.

    Cheers for the feedback.

After scanning through a few posts I think PHP will benefit me more out of the two, but it looks like some serious late nights comes with the package also

    i do both.

    coldfusion is better.

i hate php worse than the dentist.

CF has built in recursive output, which php doesn't, and i've yet to do a site that didn't need it.

before anyone posts a 'PHP IS *WAY* BETTER, DUDE,' reply, please include URLs of sites that you've done in both languages.

    here's two of mine:
    CF - http://www.tperformance.com
    php - http://www.hr1871.com/firearms/
