    Ferrari ummm ughhhhhhh aghhhh ....

Dang I can't find a word for the Ferrari F1 team today showed there true colours yet again and doing there usual tricks at doing anything to win even if it goes against the Sport or the rules.

I have always said that Ferrari are part time "devil worshiping scum"

    Maybe Ferrari should read this:

    48) If in the opinion of the Formula One Commission a competitor fails to operate his team in a manner compatible with the standards of the Championship or in any way brings the Championship into disrepute, the FIA may exclude such competitor from the Championship forthwith.

Hmmm oh yeah that is in the FIA (Ferrari international association) rule book and not the one Ferrari have to go by, my bad.

At the beginning I felt sorry for Rubino, but I guess he thought 10 million was a good enough payment for his soul!

I have to say it sucks.
Its all about the race, and the drivers, it shouldnt be about the teams. That should be secondary.

Ferrari have two drivers. One was beating the other fairly (There second driver) and the other was slower and had been all weekend.

They told the second driver to slow down and let the other guy past. For no real reason at all. This will not affect the championship and if it does it is an unfair championship because the guy that should of won didn't.

The Race was fixed and it means that Rubens can never win if his slower team mate is still in the race behind him.

Nope. That was a "gentlemen's agreement" between Hakkinen & Coulthard, team rules had nothing to do with it. Mika and DC decided that if they were in a one/two situation at the end, whichever driver had got to the first corner first would take the win. That was Mika. I know there was uproar at the time, and maybe it was wrong because it wasn't true racing, but it has to be said that if Mika hadn't been called into the pits by mistake he would have been ahead of DC anyway.

This thing with Ferrari today was a "team order" and was totally unnecessary. Rubens was robbed of a well earned victory.

I know that Michael did a semi-decent thing by putting Rubens on the top of the podium and giving him the winner's tropy, but a true sportsman would have given Rubens the extra 4 points too!

The whole McLaren thing the right person won regradless of the pit stop or not because both drivers agreed the first person to the first corner would win. Both McLaren drives where happy with this cause they feared if they pushed each other to hard the cars would fail since it was the first race of the season.

This wasn't even something the team decided but here with Ferrari they did and it was agiasn't all fairness where as the McLaren's choice I think was very fair.

This was not the first race of the season, Rubens lead all the way and all weekend too and no such agreement between drivers existed.

McLaren only puts those orders out when one driver cannot win the championship. Ferrari do it whenever they feel like it cause of MR. Scumacher.

    Testify!!!

Thought it was a disgraceful decision. It put the drivers in such an awkward situation and it was obvious that the decision came from higher up in the team. There was no point in switching the order as it meant the same amount of points for the constuctors championship. Ferrari should not be allowed to manipulate the Driver's Championship in the way they did. The Driver's Championship is just that - for the drivers. This just means Schumacher will win the Championship earlier in the season but Ferrari have lost a lot of respect as a result.

"Following an incident during the last lap of the 2002 Austrian Grand Prix and incidents during the subsequent podium procedure, the FIA has summoned the Scuderia Ferrari Marlboro and the drivers Michael Schumacher and Rubens Barichello to appear before the World Motor Sports Council at its next meeting," the FIA said in a press statement."

Hmmm why are the FIA taking so long to do this? It is June the 26th much to late. Are they hoping this dies down before then?

    Love this interview

If you win this championship, Michael, what is this championship worth now?
MS: I don't think that is a very nice question to ask now.

Isn't this a sport? Isn't this about motor racing?
    MS: (No comment - silence)

Michael do you want to win the world championship because you are the best racer or because you have got the best contract?

Well at least they are actually doing something about it and have obviously recognised something is wrong.

Anthony_Irl hit the nail on the head for me with:

Ferrari really killed the F1 yesterday, that was really scandalous. But I'd always thought Michael Schumacher wouldn't mind doing that ...

The excuse *its for the team* is ****.
Regardless of who finished team a 1-2 finish gets the team the same points.
They are manipulating the drivers championship for Schumacher.....but then we know he's not closed to abuse

I'll quote what I wrote on F1Universe.com's Forum cuz that sort of summarizes my day of ranting and my final reaction for now :

After reading all the comments and suggestions and chatting with a few fans, I come to the conclusion that the FIA should totally seperate the Drivers from the Constructors Championship. They should disallow any interference from constructors with the DC. The DC should show who the best driver was in a year, not which driver had the best contract with the best car and the best cheaters regarding team strategy.

    Drivers Championship for *drivers only*
    Constructors Championship for *constructors only*

If a constructor wants the DC as well, just get the best driver and give him the best equipment. It's up to the driver to get the championship then!

I think this would be best for the sport and the fans.

[edit] I would like to add that I don't agree with Todt's explanation (and many others who agree with Ferrari) that they are fighting for the championship and lost it in the last race in 97, 98 and 99 when they did not use team orders like this.

Ferrari is a constructor. Ferrari would not have lost points for the Constructors Championship in case they let Rubens win. His explanation, therefore, is total nonsense and they're mixing up the two championships. Hence it makes it even clearer that the two championships should be more distinctly seperated in the rules.
