    Star Office Rocks!

Apart from the Naff sounding name, Suns Star Office rocks! Just wrote a massive (well big at least) document in it. It's easier to use the Word 97 (more or less everything you'd do in Word is in the same place in StarOffice) and is missing the obligatory MS bugs. And it saves / reads Word documents perfectly!

Oh at its FREE. At least version 5.2 is. Heard that version 6.0 will have a small license fee attached (so that corporations feel happy using it )

Can be got from here: http://wwws.sun.com/software/star/staroffice/5.2/

Used it on both Windows and Linux, first tried some years ago - have to say I don't like the interface very much. It has improved over the years, but I still don't think it is a viable office solution for an sme. On the other hand, if you like the word 97 interface over 2000, Abiword is da bomb, and free.

why has this thread been moved to the computer help desk?
In a world where the human mind
can be programmed like a computer,
at what point does the human soul end
    and the cybernetic machinery begin?
