JavaScript Navigation Accessibility

Curious to see what others are doing for accessibility is this age of lots of javascript on websites. I have noticed a trend in using JS for navigation that used to be frowned upon. I personally try to create all my elements with with html and hide them with JS while adding any dynamic elements needed. Is this the norm for most of you? Thoughts?

My principle is that a web document must be usable without JavaScript. Scripting can then be used to improve usability and aesthetics for those who can benefit from it. In other words, progressive enhancement.

JavaScript navigation was perhaps forgivable for amateur websites 10 years ago, when cheap shared hosting didn't support server-side scripting technology, but not today.

I agree.

I have been seeing a trend of using <insert JS Framework here> to build dynamic primary navigation. I think it is a big mistake. I can see maybe some secondary navigation, but definitely not primary navigation.

Just curious to see what others thought, or are currently doing.
