    mySQL

    Hi,

I'm currently a newbie and trying to make my own linux server.... :P any pointers are good.

I need a website with database support.

I have heard that the combo of PHP + mySQL is the cheapest and easiest to use.

I already have a MS Access Database. Does this work with mySQL?

    Thanks,

    Justin

    1 - Use freeBSD ...sorry I don't use linux

2 - Well when getting into price, you have already saved the money by leaving behind windows and moving to an open source os.

    Good rule of thumb
LAMP - linux, Apache, Mysql and PHP/perl/PostgresSql

Of course you also now have postgresql which is a very high end open source database and supports most advanced features of the corporate db's.

    http://www.postgresql.org/

3 - Access is a database, mysql is a database. Why would you want them to work together. Do you want to export the data from access to mysql?...This question you may have to clarify.
