unable to connect to the database server

i've found the solution. while copying example from browser i commented out some of the code and that's why it didn't work...

so now noone has to write replys..maybe i'll need help on something else soon..

i'm runnig mysql server(mysqld) as a service in windows 2000. however i cannot connect to the server(using first example from KY tutorial). The message is Unable to connect to the database server. MySql is up and running, I can work in it in command prompt and it is also listed under Services(and running).
anybody with a solution?
