camera zoom creates frame drop?

here's the scenario :

front shot of a spaceship which gets bigger as it approaches the camera (you the viewer), is there anyway to use scripting to zoom into the ship and have it fade to nothing -
so that it appears to be coming to you, without using tweens which drop frames(decrease performance)?

any suggestions would be great!

yes, you can animate with actionscript but you're probably going to be dropping frames regardless. this has a lot to do with the user's computer set up. you're correct, though, in that actionscripted animations are more efficient. take a walk over to http://www.actionscript.org or http://www.flashkit.com and you'll get an idea of what you can do

lao4life, if the your doing 100% width/height and your spaceship is very detailed or has many curves, scalling to outragous sizes will definatly decrease the fps.
