    Question Firefox access denied problem

Alright, I'm completely stumped on this.

I've created an application to write a short line of text to a csv file in a folder inside the application (it is intended to provide some statistical information to my company's VPs on the number of first-time visitors to the page). In web.config I've set authentication to none and impersonate to false. We've given the ASP client write access to everything in the folder on the server (IIS 6.0 by the way) but here's the catch: Works fine in IE 7.0 - I get an "Access to file is denied." in Firefox 3. I've "fiddled" with everything I have access to fiddle with and I really don't know what's next to fix the access problem in firefox.

Any suggestions from the (always helpful and supportive) peanut gallery?

hmmm. The access denied error should have nothing to do with which browser your using. Rather with the asp.net accessing the file. Just for a test give full permission to the file to everyone and see if that workls. If it does, then you know you have a permission problem. And if not, take it from there

Well, the web admin came back to me on this. After I gave her a printout of your reply she stopped by this morning to tell me she had granted access to "everything". Impersonate is still set to false. I still have no access to the file in Firefox. Internet Explorer is still working fine....

    Arrrrrrrgghgghh!

OK, just to clarify, I have spoken with our admin again, and she has specifically set access to "everyone" on the folder, but we are still experiencing an access problem in Firefox. She is going to check later tonight to make sure the files in the folder have the same setting.

What sort of access was given to "Everyone"? Is WRITE access included?
