i don't quite understand the client or request object nor how the architecture works...please advise!!!

Are you using Netscape's server technology? or Microsoft's Server Technology for your server side javascript?

If it is Netscape, go to their site and search for LIVEWIRE.

If it is Microsoft, go to http://msdn.microsoft.com/scripting/
