    Html?

    Hey all,

I was wondering what does it mean when a contest holder ask you that he/she wants the .PSD file and HTML file.

I know what .PSD is but I'm a little confused over the HTML part, are we suppose to do the HTML coding?

    thanks

I think it's the same w/ png using fireworks when you export your layout it generates an html code.. Never tried it on photoshop though but maybe it's the same...

Not familiar with fireworks. Does this simply mean you have to use the slicing tool and just generate and HTML file and an IMAGES folder?

Or am I suppose to code it, meaning with CSS and all that?

    Bit confused....

yes that's it, no need for coding if it's only a layout..

Yes. A contest holder can choose to receive only a PSD – basically just a pretty picture of the design – and implement it himself/herself.

He or she can also choose to ask for both the PSD and the implementation, in the form of an HTML template and, usually, the accompanying CSS and image elements. Of course, this means more job for the contestant, and requires additional skills, so the price tag should be higher for this type of contest.

The price tag is actually quite low in this case (In the 300ish range). It doesn't state in the breif that the contest holder requires any coding but then again it doesn't state HTML either.

Does exporting the .PSD file to HTML count? Using the slicing tool? Since I don't have any coding skills what so ever and I'm only a designer its something I'm quite frustrated about.

Honestly I have no experiences on competitions, but I think the PSD will do since his after only for the design...

That's up to the contest holder, but if it were me I wouldn't accept such a thing. Graphics software is good at creating graphics, but usually sucks badly at creating markup. This needs to be done by hand.
