    I Want To Start Designing

    Hi,

I will start designing now, and I will then learn to code, and I will make my own sites and sell them basically. To start designing, what softwares will I need and what knowledge will I need? The same for coding as well.

its not thats easy to tell you the truth. This stuff actually takes years to fully learn everything, but I recommend

    Adobe photoshop
Adobe dreamweaver(you will learn how to code fast if you use split so when you make changes you see different codes)
also learn php but those are basically the two programs you will need.

Software is only a tool and will not make you a good designer.

Go pick up some introductory books on web design, graphic design, and more specifically, CSS and xHTML.

I would recommend you to learn code thoroughly, build some sites on notepad then go for softwares. This will enhance your coding skills.

So far I have heeded your words and done the following --

Got photoshop CS4, dreamweaver, a smartnotes chart of HTML and PHP, a book on web design which I have started reading, and a study book of coding and web design. I think I will focus hard on this stuff. Thank you!!

For designing, you must read Adobe Photoshop CS4. It's easy and flexible than other softwares.

Many of the books that I read about web design were about coding... it is also important to think in the visual aspect too... so do read and learn about colors, shapes, and communication... After all, a web needs to communicate a message, even if the message is "buy me please!"
