Blogging platforms for the top 100 bloggers

Take a look at the blog platforms of choice among the top 100 blogs.
WordPress is clearly leading with 32% (27% standalone WP installation and 5% wordpress.com). TextPattern isn't even there! Matt Mullenweg predicts if the same survey is run next year WP will be between 40-50%. I also think WP willl even gain more market share in general and especially among top bloggers!

There are a lot of blogging platforms but I think wordpress is the choice of most bloggers from what I have seen. I think those numbers are probably a lot higher that 32% myself.

I'd agree, wordpress reigns supreme right now for stand alone blogs. However, there are so many different platforms it is hard to say. I use wordpress, blogger, and joomla right now, and they all have their pluses and minuses. It also depends on what type of site you want, how big it will be, etc.

i agree WordPress is king of the blogosphere, the newly released 2.7 is superb..a lot better than blogger anyhow which i used for a long time until i seen the light :-)

I read the article yesterday - I was quite interesting and revealing. One thought that came into my mind was what would the market share be if there were 200 top blogs, what about 500 top blogs?

I think that WordPress would prevail if the list of top-blogs would be bigger.

Wordpress is by far the most popular and it's what I use. However, I prefer Joomla because it give you so much more control and they have very nice templates. I only use Wordpress because the latest version of Joomla doesn't have a good comments or related articles mod yet...at least ones that are free.

What wordpress can offer is simply better than others. With auto ping, hundreds of pluggins, it's my first choice.

I'm not surprised that Textpattern isn't there. I used to use it, but it doesn't even come close. Wordpress can dance circles around it.

I think WordPress will continue to grow, but I wonder if it will start to have problems because of the ongoing security issues. If you don't keep the software current you will most likely get hacked, and upgrading is becoming more difficult.

I would have to agree, the speed at which you can install, customize, and make your first post with wordpress is awesome
