PHP Excel Read

I'm trying to read an Excel file through PHP. I can read data out, get each spreadsheet in a workbook, and other stuff. However, I have ZERO clue how to retrieve the background color of a cell.

I've looked into everything that could be possible using the Microsoft Excel 97-2007 Binary File Format Specification (http://download.microsoft.com/downlo...cification.pdf).

My brain is melting.
And I don't mean that figuratively.

Are you using a library to read Excel, or have you written your own code?

The PHPExcel library is very capable of reading all information about a cell format, including background colour.
