    Have you considered Adobe Acrobat - it is the main program that was designed for creating and editing PDFs in the first place and supports everything that the people who thought up the PDF format have worked out how to do with it.

    might come off dumb but doesn't adobe require learning it very well before using it??

    i'm looking for a good piece of e-book writing software, adobe would cost me a good amount of money which will kill my budget. any other idea's?

    Nitro PDF is a lot more awkward to use than Acrobat but is less than 20&#37; of the price - perhaps that one might do. Both have free trials available so that you can check that they work for what you want before you have to pay for them.
