February Shout Out- What's Your Offline Hobby?

Looking over our Social Groups, I saw plenty of work related groups. Networking is the name of the game in Web Development, but some of the best associations are made between people who have something in common other than work. So my explorations caused me to wonder, "What's your off-line hobby when you're not pounding a computer keyboard?"

My hobbies are: piano playing, flower gardening (in the summertime), and if pets are a hobby, mine keep me busy. They are Bailey an Airedale puppy, Amigo a Green Cheeked Conure (bird), three tortoises (Leonard who is an African Leopard Tortoise and the "little guys", two baby Sulcatas), a marine clown fish and a tank of African cichlids. We also have a green tree python and a rhino iquana which I am fond of but are Ed's to take care of. But I digress... What's YOUR offline hobby?

    Drumming... Good old FUNK drumming.
I also dig taking trips with the family without an agenda, and sometimes without a destination in mind.

Music (sample spotting, listening, going to concerts) (Downbeat, Trip Hop, Hip Hop, Funk, Soul, ...), MTB'king, movies & traveling (if I find the time...)
& learning (yes, knowledge hunger became a hobby)

I used to be obsessed by skateboarding & snowboarding but had to leave those full time hobbies, due to a shoulder fracture. If I didn't quit those, I probably wouldn't have landed in the i'net bizz.

Playing squash. It's a good test of you physically, mentally, tactically, skilfully. A lot of fun, and very satisfying to get all the components working.

No prizes for guessing my hobby from the avatar...

    Gliding!

It really is the most fantastic sport I have ever been involved in, with a fantastic community to match (and much cheaper than you think - at least in the UK!)

I also enjoy pub quizzes, socialising, theme parks, travelling, swimming, a bit of 'Go' (ancient board game), and music

But mainly gliding & associated adventures

I just have to substitute drums for bass to maximize the funk. Unfortunately, I haven't jammed very much lately or taken any unplanned trips. I somehow got extremely boring in my early 20s.

This is probably more likely if I can be dragged away from the computer. What kind of games do you recommend? We've been playing a lot of the Risk mods and some of the newer Eagle board games.

Playing football (I prefer 5 against 5, smaller field, less running ), fotography, listening to music, reading, going for rides with my bike, going for walks (when we're outside of Rome), and go sightseeing in Rome (after 11 years I still love to see the Colosseum and all the rest).

well, if I am not doing chores or drinking around alone at home, I would be playing badminton with some of my friends that do so, visit bookstores and take a peek on whats new and whats interesting, some times buy a few books, go to supermarkets and see if people can really meet in supermarkets and date-so far seen none yet....

I'm a big follower of my local rugby team and go to watch them every Saturday during the season. I also do MMA twice a week and tend to keep fit by jogging/running/gym.

I also play guitar (badly) and play a lot of computer games as well. Do computer games count as off line?

ummmmmm I used to have a life 2 years ago, aikido, tae kwondo, cricket, swimming, dancing but now I just go to BBQ, road trips, clubbing and drink.

Its embarrasing to say, but I really dont have an offline life at the moment But I do plan on skydiving this year and I also love bungy jumping which I did all around NZ at Xmas 2 years ago

Off-road driving, although I haven't had time to indulge in it for a long time.

I've got a '51 Willys CJ-3A with a 3.5L Rover V8 and 35" Super Swampers for more serious playing (although it's currently got a busted rear differential).

My daily driver, a '98 Jeep Grand Cherokee 5.2L V8 is also capable of moderate off-roading, which is necessary because driving on the minor roads around here is more or less like driving off-road.

Well, I do not have a moment of boredom ever. Never had. I love all sorts of artistic creating like painting, drawing, photography. Baking and cooking are a major part of what I would call hobbies of mine. Walking the beach - I live on an island - gardening with natives to keep the sense of place alive on this strip of land. I also read a lot, a very eclectic array of books. A big part of my reading is philosophy.

Main hobbies are skateboarding and go-karting.

Skateboarding for nearly 10 years now, although as I've got older I tend to skate less in the winter. Plus my knees and elbows aren't what they used to be, so I can't spend the 5/6 hours a day skating as I used to Stairs and rails are becoming less and less attractive as the years go by.

Go-Karting is something I've been doing for a year and a half, and I'm looking at entering some races this year, as I've become quite competitive on times at my local track.

Also general driving and motorsport I really enjoy, especially my current Honda DC5 Integra Type-R, which is always a hoot to take out on the weekend and thrash for a bit.

Although one of my friends has recently introduced me to World of Warcraft.... so I dare say I won't be doing any of the above again now.
