    starting mysql on win nt server

    I've installed MySQL on a win 2000 server and installed the service properly and it runs correctly:

    C:\mysql\bin> mysqld-nt -install
    But, when i tried to run it on an NT server, and did the exact same thing, i get this error:

    could not start MySQL service on\\servername

    Error 1067: The process terminated unexpectedly
    can anyone help me out in figuring out why this has taken place??? am i supposed to start the service differently on NT than 2000?? I don't se why... any suggestions will be appreciated.

    Are you logged on as local admin. Do you have the access required to start a service?

    Cool thanks, I'll look into that... but if I don't have this file, where do I get it from?? is it one the files included in the MySQL dir???

    And yes, I am the server admin.

    Any other suggestions will be great... keep em coming

    Thumbs up Net Start

    I used the above link from martm and got my problem solve.
    Made a my.ini file with (kicked away the my.cnf file):

    [mysqld]
    basedir=C:/mysql/
    datadir=C:/mysql/data

    [winMySQLAdmin]
    Server=C:/mysql/bin/mysql-nt.exe

    And put the file in the NT folder.

    And then Im ready to continue to Installing PHP in Kev book !

    Best regards
    Roger Iverin
