Charsets, Collation, Type, etc.
In my search to find a tool to help manage my DB I've found that none of them use the same settings for Carsets, Collations, Types (and probably other settings). What settings should I use or avoid using? I'm pretty sure I want to use some variant of UTF, since that's what I use for my site, but I don't know which one to pick, and I'm just as confused about types and everything else.

It'd be rare to see something other than English, but probably not unheard of.

IMO UTF-8 is what which comes to rescue in most such cases.
Try this and see if you find any luck.

Well, PHPmyAdmin has more than 5 different UTF sets, which is the most "general?"
