I was going to try and learn PHP (great tutorial, by the way!)
I am a singer/songwriter and just started designing web pages. Can anybody think of a "useful" application for PHP and my web site? the joke database from the tutorial cannot be applied!
I basically took his article and applied it to what i needed. Of course this isn't an easy thing to do but with a little time and a lot of patience you'll be happy with the outcome.
Thanks for the idea Vinay...i will start with that.
and Jonese, I am curious how you will integrate PHP into your site. When you say full db, do you mean that the ENTIRE site will be created from db's or just certain parts?
my site will take all the data. The dating tips, the articles, the pet names, etc... anything that is "data" or that people want to reference or search for.
I then have each of these data packets put into tables. An article table, a dating tips table, etc.
Then with all these tables I an begin to build interfaces for people to add stuff to the current data. And I can start to construct pages for people to see the data and to search through the data.
Much in the same way SitePoint.com has DB'd it's entire web site.
