Do you use Google Webmaster Tools? You'll be able to see when Google has last crawled your site and submit a sitemap. Google sometimes picks up my blog postings within a matter of hours and other times takes a day or two. It really depends on the frequency of my postings.

If Google knows you exist and you submit a sitemap, they'll be back.

I have heard its a bit random and can take some time to get indexed.

You're on the right track, the search results are just dynamic i.e. they constantly change. The more frequent you post, the more frequent youll be crawled so keep doing what you're doing and it will stay indexed.

P.s. search engines arent blocked are they?

It will take some time, you need links to your blog. If you don't have them then no spiders will come and index something. Make sure that you are not using the noindex feature of All in One SEO.

Have you recently made any changes to your layout? When I changed my layout, it took google search a couple weeks to crawl the new one, a few months for their image spider to crawl it.
