    design help

    hi, can anyone help me out, how do i get rid of whitespaces that appear in internet explorer and how can i create a horizontal drop down sub menu and image swap with css. no javascript, just plain css?

    Rather broad questions. Whitespace can be caused by many things, but is typically due to not accounting for the the normal vertical alignment of inline images being at the text baseline, and the text decenders gap that is normally below images forcing the image container larger in IE. Fix here is to either set the images to block display or set the image vertical-align to bottom.

    A dropdown menu is typically a nested unordered list, and the suckerfish method requires no javascript for IE7, although does require a javascript helper for IE6. Stu Nicholls has come up with a non-javascript version that will work in IE6, but it relies on illegal nested tables and a heap of conditional comments to feed the tables to IE6 (and hide them from any validators) - very messy.
