Install Instant Rails 2.0 for windows but got problems

Help, Help.
Tried to install Instant Rails 2.0 in windows XP but got problems, It did not
behave like described in the Lenz book.

I then read in RubyForge, release notes, that there were problems related to the zipfile.
But today this releasenote has gone.

Before making a new try to install, is there anybody who know if the Windows install file and process is OK?

(Instant Rails 1.7 has earlier been installed in this PC, played with and then deleted)

I too had so much trouble installing InstantRails (on Windows98 though), that I began to wonder if it could be done. http://www.sitepoint.com/forums/showthread.php?t=563276 I eventually gave up on InstantRails and got things working by installing ruby186-26.exe instead.

So, I don't know about XP, but you too may have better luck by not using InstantRails.

I've had no problems with it. Just empty the zip contents into a new folder and run InstantRails.exe. Away you go.

What exactly is the error(s) you're getting?

sorry for having been away for some time.

Please define the following for me:

gem = supercommand, I think you could call it.
rubygems = an idea of package functionality.
update = a subcommand
--xxx = an option
but:
--system = where is it ???
--local = where is it ???
--remote= where is it ???
gem update (no option) = ???
gem update --system = ???

I have difficulty understanding where data come from and where data ends (destination)
for each of the subcommands.
(can't find answers in gem help)
