WordPress theme repository - PodCast with Matt Mullenweg

Matt Mullenweg (creator of WordPress) is appearing on the WordPress Weekly Podcast at 7am (NZ time) this morning to discuss the removal of 200 themes from the WordPress themes repository.

Here's a link to the Podcast:

And here's some background info. on the subject:

    http://www.jeffro2pt0.com/more-thoug...premium-themes

Themes in the official WordPress themes repository are required to be GPL licensed, however they have now started removing themes which link to sites which promote or are even associated with premium (paid) themes. This has created quite an uproar amongst WordPress theme developers, both for and against the decision.

Jeff Chandler (WordPress Weekly presenter) was the first (that I saw) discussing this on his blog and he has done a good job of presenting the facts on the matter rather than writing warped, misinformed blog posts unlike some others I've read lately on the subject.

The quality of themes on Wordpress are very low. I'm afraid such a move will take off the better themes.
