    auto height column

    I created a div containing 2 columns.
The left column has just an image in background, and I want to repeat it by Y.
The right column contains data taken from database, so it will not have fixed height.

What I want now: the left column will have height changed following the right column's height. How to do that?

    Thanks.

To put it simply, you can't - an element cannot be made to be the height of its parent if the parent's height is not explicitly set. Easiest way is the "faux culmn" technique - put the repeated background image on the container so it looks like the left column extends all the way.

I forgot that trick. Thanks for reminding.
