Adding a table row drops page - Need help

I'm back with another problem on my inherited mess of a website. As I've said before, please excuse the God-awful code. I know it sucks. I will replace the entire website in due time with a CMS, but for now, I just have to deal with what's there...

See how I added an additional link on the left called "Parents Login"? By doing that, you'll also notice that the "content" area on the right drops down. Can I avoid this?

If someone could help me out I would greatly appreciate it.
