Connecting to remote MySQL Database with CPanel
Is it possible for a remote server or even another account on the same server to access the MySQL Database of an account?
The reason I ask this is a I have a client who wants to set-up a second website but wants to pull a lot of the data from his existing website which is in a MySQL Database.
How would I go about doing this?

yes it possible.
you can do this in tow ways.
1. you can make data base connection through Cpanel to remote DB
2. you can make data base connection directly to your desired remote DB by connection script
i am not sure either those information enough or not.

this is only possible if the host where the DB is allows it. many web hosts do not.

My host, hostgator, allows you to specify (in cPanel) the remote host from where you want to connect with the database. As longneck said, it's upto the host to allow or disallow it. Just reach out to their support and ask them.
