    Dispalying data tables

PROBLEM: display and format XML data

Is there any way to extend the amount of HTML you can use in Flash? Its HTML support looks pretty limmited. It would be great if there was a way to use HTML tables and CSS borders, etc...

If not, is it possible to customize/reskin the datagrid component?

    Thanks

Flash has always had limited html support. Flash is not trying to be another browser or portal to load another browser into.

What is it your trying to load into flash?

It is an interactive map where clicking on a country shows information about the country in a panel on the left. Its pretty graphical. There's no way it could be done in Javascript.

The country zooms in and the panel fades in.
The data is loaded with XML.

    Thanks

If you want total control over presentation then I'd not use precooked components such as datagrids. You can dynamically create your own textfields and geometric shapes and position them however you want, so there's no limitation to getting it looking right as long as you can write some actionscript.

That sounds like a good idea. I'm not great at Actionscript. I work mostly in PHP.
Are there any examples you know of on the web?

Try using the datagrid component. That works great and is easy to implement with xml data.

Thanks, the only problem is it doesn't match the look on the design and its not very customizable.

The component style and skin can be edited in the library (component assets).
