    swfobject vs object

    Hi all

Been having a little problem embedding a flash movie, basically just needed to replace <embed> to meet markup standards, I've used the Satay Method using <object> but I've been doing a little scouring of the net and come across swfobject which uses javascript - <script type="text/javascript" src="swfobject.js"></script>

It seems like a lot of big sites are using swfobject but then some are using the Satay Method.

Just wondering what is the best option to us? What do you us?

    Thanks

    Either method is fine.

To expand upon what SearchBliss said, either is fine for most projects. Do note however that both have their own inherent accessibility issues (the Satay method moreso than SWFObject).

If I am forced to use Flash then I do prefer SWFObject personally. As Dan said the Satay Method has more inherent accessibility issues than SWFObject. Plus users are more likely to not have the Flash plugin than they are to have Javascript turned off so its pretty full proof.... well as full proof as anything Flash or Javascript based can be.

That being said, I did come dangerously close to making the Satay 100&#37; accessible - too bad I couldn't get any help with the final piece of the puzzle here on SitePoint...
