How much time to learn PHP programing language?
I am wondering how much time would somebody need to learn PHP programming language from scratch, without knowing any programming language. Let's suppose that person would be full time devoted (10 hours per day, 30 days per month) and he/she is very good at logical thinking and in math.
The question is how much time to reach a level when he/she can develop own dating site or let's say car auction site.

How deep is a hole????
A hole is only as deep as you want to dig it my friend. Learning php and to build what you have described with the devoted time and logic you have expressed can be built in a month. But then you will find there are many derivatives from just learning strict php. It delves into web security, web accessibility, web compliance, what style of php you want to learn (OOP or MVC). Then there is the database side of it all.
There is also the issue of "re-inventing the wheel". Do you try to learn how to build it and build it all yourself again, or do you grab a framework that is pre-developed?
I have been learning php for just over 3 years now and the more I learn the more doors open to discover more.
Best of luck in your endeavours if you decide to get into it.Regards,
BJ Duncan

If you understand the programming logic, you can learn every programming language in a week. If you dont understand the logic it would take much much more time.

If you know HTML and C then for learning basic things of php will not take more than 4 days and you can go in deep afterwards and you can be master in 1 month.

It would take you 24 hours to understand how php works and how all the functions work, if you are smart.
But no matter how smart you are, it would take you years to be able to do what today big websites do. Because you need time absorb necessary functions and technique. Otherwise, your website is just for fun.

i think for basic how to install and start programming its about hour and then to write hello world in PHP it is 10 min and reading how to make car auction site....in PHP think before you jump in !!
in PHP you will get lot of free stuff u may get started with framework or CMS or if u are thinking to start from scrtach all three options are different and take their time.
:-)
If u know basic programming in C and have gud grip over how client -server work then you will pick fast.
