Question Record Navigation System with .txt file?

I have a customer who wants to FTP .txt files of his information to a server and these .txt files are 'included' in a .php page. He also wants this information to be broken up into separate pages (page 1,2,3,...) using a navigation system.

He doesn't want me to build a db system to create records and use a CMS.

What I have is a webpage that 'includes' a .txt file in the page.

Can PHP be used to create a navigation system to break apart a .txt file?

Yes. You can read the contents of the file with file_get_contents(). Then you can use some string functions or regular expressions to split the data up. You should be familiar with pagination first(usually tutorials use a database, but the same concepts apply).

I know how to create a pagination system with DW8's server behaviors, but that's as far as my knowledge goes.

Can you forward me to some tutorials on how I can use file_get_contents()? --please keep in mind that I am a newbie --
