Self managed e-marketing

Hi all,

I've used Campaign Monitor for some time (http://campaignmonitor.com/) to send mass emails for my clients. Whilst I like the statistics, testing etc. I am now on the lookout for something that I can host on my own server. Is there anything out there?

I use several CMS' and whilst they offer the ability to send e-newsletters, I have been a little scepitcal amount using them.

I am new to this, so can anyone let me know of any pitfalls, tips etc.

I wont advice using own mail server for sending mass emails.
Some times your IP may get blocked as spam. Better stick to outsourced service. Thats my gut feel and experience in general.

I've always stayed away from sending email myself because I don't know enough of what I'm doing to maintain things and ensure email gets delivered - but if I was going to do it myself, I'd seriously consider Interspire's Emailmarketer or maybe 1-2-all
