Favourite Photo Locations

Where's your favourite place to take photographs and why? Be it a country, a city, a village, a street, or even a room!

Mine so far has to be Hong Kong. The reason why is because of the wide variety of things to take photos of; the people, the food, the animals, the buildings, the transport, the weather, the sports, the night-life, the boats, the coastlines, the parks, etc....

I like the country side - but then again, I live in the country. Particular favorite - any place in the Shenandoah Valley. Very beautiful natural scenery.

I am fascinated by 'visual puns' and 'visual oxymorons'. You know, those strange circumstances where two things that appear within your field-of-view don't seem to quite go together.

I've found excellent opportunities to take photos wherever I've went. But mostly I like New Delhi (India), my home city, it has just about endless places to take photos, its flowing rich with historical sites (which I like most to take photos of) & it has so many other places be it gardens or streets of old city. Besides Delhi I like the landscapes in the splendid & beautiful Himalayas in Garhwal & Kumaon regions in northern India.

I like to shoot indoors so not weather dependant. But outside is sometimes cheaper.

There is a 1000 kilometre hiking trail that begins not far from where I live. By far, my favourite photography location is along this track. ( http://www.clusterpod.com for some of the latest hike)

Street photography is becoming increasingly problematic here. A male with a SLR is an automatic, instant suspect. Forget photographing children in public, even your own. Even having a camera at the beach draws dark looks.

Thus, being out in the bush with the birds and insects is of preference for me.

Lake Tahoe. I'm a sucker for trees, lakes, and mountains. It looks good in the summer or the winter. Of course I live near there, so I am a bit biased.

I like to goto cities and find the bad part of town and shoot there

I really like pictures of urban decay and the sort.. i probably shouldnt bring my spendy camera to places like that tho....

I definitely lean more towards landscape and architecture, so anywhere that is either countryside or somewhere quite urban

I'm trying to get out of my comfort zone now and again however, just to try new things.

I don't find any particular area more interesting than another when it comes to photography, it depends what kind of photographs you want to take.

I live in London (UK) and I think it is pretty much a gritty, dirty and uninspiring ***hole. I enjoy the scenery of hong kong much more. That said, when it comes to photography, you can find a good photograph anywhere..... in a dirty back alley in London, you could take a beautiful shot. In the beautiful beachs of LA you could take a hidieous and unoriginal shot.

When I am looking to take a photo, first I think what I want to take, before where I want to take it. What image you want to create means everything. A lot of people just go to a tourist location and take a photo of the pyramids or something -it looks nice, but of course it does -it's the bloody pyramids!

Real art is creating a beautiful image out of something people would walk by every day without giving it a second look -like the trash-hole I live in called London.

Still of course certain types of locations interest me, I like urban areas, nature, people. I find nothing more beautiful than a beautiful female in a totally weird abstract pose with some equally abstract atire with a deep and interesting looking background. I find the Vogue magazine has the best pictures in, I never read the articles(mostly women's stuff), but the photos are absolutley amazing. It is very hard to find mags with good quality photos, especially photography magazines -don't know why all the photos in there are poor quality. The high-end fashion mags probably have the best quality photos because they have millions and millions of funds to spend on photographers and models etc.

My favorite photos I´ve ever taken were mostly shot in Patagonia (Argentina). Incredible landscapes.

I'm definitely fond of outdoors photography. Landscapes, urban decay and shining modern streets.. and of course, all kinds of nature.
I shoot indoors, but rarely, seems a bit boring to me. =)

Mine has to be outdoors. The natural light is great. BTW, your avatar is the chinese character for the surname Lee or Dy right?
