    Youtube Changed the video resolution

    Hi,

I visited youtube today and the video resolution has been changed.
To be honest, I liked the change, looks like; if somebody is watching the video on a big screen.

youtube looks more professional, but the embedded object links/code doesn't work on most of my pages.

I was thinking, the flash plug-ins missing but looks like youtube changed something lolz

    anyhow, Enjoy

Wasn't this long overdue, well at least since 2 years ago. I think they always had the proper resources to do such as thing but never took it on. I guess the impact of this simple looking change is far reaching in design, resources etc. on not only youTube but also sites who leech off of the Tube.

Took a look earlier today and noticed the same thing, to be honest I think it works better than the old version. Makes it look more professional.

P.S Here's a random YouTube top tip - To watch a video in high quality simply Add &fmt=18 to the end of a normal YouTube URL. If there's a high quality version available, that extra string will cause it to load.

I thought my videos looked a little weird this morning. I think they definitely look better and more professional.

to watch super-high quality (720p HD), use &fmt=22

I wonder if this had anything to do Chrome... For some reason Youtube videos were timing out (at 2 seconds) in my Chrome Browser. I notice this was happening for lots of other people, too.

This was indeed overdue, and its good to see a steady progression of improvement. Hopefully, soon watching Youtube will be comparable to watching television.

I think nothing has been changed, they only change the canvas size I mean flv player size in the page...

if the video is small then it show the the black color on the sides and video is in center....

    Isn't so...

love the new interiors, looks sleeker. I also like that they provide HQ versions for videos now, certainly helps if you wanna watch it full screen.

I like the change, but all the videos look weird now with that ugly black space on the right/left.

I wonder if they have changed because they have recently announced that they will be showing feature length movies in association with film companies?

Definitely much better. The black bars on each side (called pillars) are necessary for older 4x3 videos. That's how they should be seen on a widescreen TV BTW, not stretched out like most TVs do by default. Unfortunately most people would prefer to look at a terribly distorted picture rather than think they were "missing out" by not having the whole screen filled.

Older embedded videos seem to be working fine for me. It does look more professional like this for some reason.

I can't wait to make upload some of my hd footage. I'm still confused on why it would take so long to make a player width just a couple pixels larger.

Any idea why older embedded videos don't work anymore?
